Templates & Macros
Customizing templates and macros
Duplicate a default template, add your own sections, save reusable phrases as macros for one-tap insertion.
Templates are the starting point for a note. Macros are reusable snippets you drop in with one tap. Both live under Settings → Templates.
Customizing a template
- Open Settings → Templates.
- Find the template you want to base yours on (or pick Blank).
- Tap Duplicate — your edits never overwrite the originals.
- Rename it (e.g. "My Acute Low Back Workup").
- Add or remove sections, change which diagrams are included, set default checkboxes.
- Save — your template now appears in the One-Tap Templates list at the top of the workspace.
Creating a macro
- Settings → Macros → New Macro.
- Give it a label (the button you'll tap) and a body (the text it inserts).
- Pick which section it belongs to (Subjective, Objective, Plan, etc.).
- Save.
When you're working on a note, tap the macro button and the body text appears at the cursor.
Pro tips
- Macros support placeholders like
{{REGION}}or{{LATERAL}}. When inserted, Eli/the template will fill these from the active diagram or selection. - Order matters — drag macros to reorder them; the most-used should be first.
- You can export your templates from Profile → Your Data → Download My Data — useful before any major edit session.
